We were for a couple of days in Tirana, in a business visit and took this chance to learn more about this city. Tirana is pretty modern but you still can see the communist past, especially on the old neighborhoods and the stories told by Eni, our guide. We were lucky to have her as she was very knowledgeable about the history of the region. We visited Bunk Art, which is a museum now showing communist atrocities, was impressive. The tour was about 3 hours, we recommend it, just a small thing be careful if its too hot, Tirana is a very hot city in summer.
I found this tour on internet and looking for new destinations this looked like a complete adventure. It turned out pretty nice. Albania, although I knew nothing, is a very European country with a past of Turkish influence. Everywhere in the country you culture clashes creating a lovely mix of architecture and people behavior. The nature is amazing everywhere you go, but no so clean. Travelling with Albania My Way was really worth it, they are locals with high expertise and knowledge. They try to show you everything as it is. I enjoyed the company of Aldo a lot, he took care for everything. We highly recommend Aldo and his company.
This was an excellent day and we learned so much for this beautiful country in only one day. Tirana is a lovely new city, the Italian architecture was obvious as well the communist past. Bovilla lake was a nice easy hike where you have a chance to feel the countryside and you see totally a different picture. Its a good mixture if you want some history and nature. Thumb up for Albania My Way and the guide Aldo, was very nice and very careful. Highly recommended
Albania My Way on International Media
During September, Albania My Way had the honor of hosting CNN journalist Justine Calderon in Albania. He visited the country to explore the notorious legacy of communist-era bunkers and their transformation over the past 30 years. Eni Koço meticulously planned and guided the journey, showcasing remarkable sites that truly deserve the spotlight. Through these visits, the journalist witnessed firsthand the remnants of communist paranoia and the innovative ways Albania has repurposed this legacy for the future. “Step by step we have discovered what we lost from communism” and how Albania is reclaiming its history.
